L. colony going up 25 yds. up from shack and has diverted part of the stream N so that there is now a 3' wide stream ging between the shack + cabin where none was before. 10:40 Warbling Virco singing from asp. overhanging stream. Has a churring scold note. This area from shack on to + a little below AA is the most active section. 2' garter snake under asp. logs 15' from stream. Main pond 11 A.M. Not much evidence of recent cutting in immediate vicinity yet a consid- erable pile of peeled asp. logs floating near lodge. Top of lodge has some fresh asp logs, one 6 leaves. One 6" and a 7" tree were cut near lodge in main pond recently. 11:30 W. b. with itch for- aging on L' pole just below dam. A few cutttings below main dam but insig- nificant.
