L.colony the newest lodge. Coyote tracks along shore at site of most active cuttings. Asp.
logs floating in pond of newest lodge.
at least 4 good sets of tracks showing where beaver have come out on snow to cut willow about 15' away. Started back
Roadside from shack at 11:30. Roadside colony 12 noon.
Song sparrow singing in willows; unident.
hawk flew by over top of fenole White b.
nut hatch calling while working a big jeffrey 20' from me. Rufous under tail coverts visible. Creeper in same tree 15 min. later. Halfway between Roadside & Rockslide colonies 1 PM
heard but didn't see nutcracker
Rockslide calling high up S slope. Rockslide Colony 2 PM, several trails leading in snow to beaver cutting about at downstream limit of asp. patch on the rockslide and 30 yds from water.
U. rockslide lodge has suggestion of breath hole tho' not as good as last yr. nor as that of middle lodge this year. GOT back to camp by 3:10 PM.
May 15 Main Camp, 7 AM. Slightly hazy, v. little breeze. Most obvious songsters are white-crowned sparrows. Also in song: Chipping sp, junco
