Feb 6 SageHen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif.
Roadside Left camp 8:50 AM. Clouding up a little = cirrus
Colony but cleared up by 10. Arr. Roadside colony
10:15 AM. Much more open water down here
than above, in fact there is little ice here.
Kingfisher called from dead l'pole, perched
then flew upstream. Took shots of the
upper, older lodge which is covered by
snow, and the lower, newer lodge 50
yds downstream, which is almost
completely free of snow. Exp both at 10:25
for comparison. 10:45 New downstream
extension of this colony noted last
Nov. shows no obvious work since then.
L. colony Saw no chips on snow. Lower colony
(upper part). Much recent work &
many tracks in snow at uppermost
extension of the lower colony (down to
shack. Quit at 11:45 & got back to camp
by 2:30. Cutting schedule down to
Shack:
