Nov 28 Sargent Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif.
opp Spring Canyon base of 12" L pole 30 yds W of a giant,
yellowed snag. Numerous old & new tracks.
Marked the tree & 2 blazes. Stu shot
a creeper from 12" L pole in fairly open
stand. Much coyote sign - 3 parallel sets
of tracks in one area on S side of stream
at lower end of Kiln mdw. Picture of Stu &
Bob at 10:40, exp 24. Red-tail perched atop
70' L pole in U. end Kiln mdw. Stu shot T.
solitaire from asp 30' from stream 100yds
upstream from the ford. Gave a phrasel
song; a little robinoid tho'shorter.
U Colony U. Colony 12 Noon. Pond has v. thin ice in
places, none in others. Lodge has lots
more sticks added to top and an
excellent food cache of asp. logs just out-
side. Food cache better than last year's.
Good deal of cutting around pond & the
new little dam about half way between
lodge & photo tree has now flooded some
more area on N side. Impression is one
of cutting of large trees. 12:00 noon took
shot of house, tracks on ice and food
cache exp 15.6. 12:10, took shot of lodge &
food stores from "P" on log leading to perch.
