Hall 1953 Oct 4 Sagemen Creek, 3 mi NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. L. colony "old" workings: Pond loaded little frogs. Beaver castor in the air. Couldn't get out to lodge but it looks no different than last time from shore. Weather hazy but hot in afternoon. Practically no cutting on S side, old or new parts. The lodge started this summer is now really a lodge! Shows a great deal of work & the large dam below it has been built even higher so that water is now backed up to E side of lodge. The lodge is heavily newly plastered, esp. on E side. Last night's work for sure. On shore directly opp shack is regular trample-ground where deer have come to drink; never saw anything like this many tracks here before. 2:50 clickaree crossing log where we usually Roadside cross just below main dam. Roadside colony Colony 3 PM. watch trout dashing around in same pool they were in this AM. Am convinced they are brown, not brooks. They are 12' long as close as I could guess. Upper Rockslide v. Rockslide Colony 3:30 PM. Main dam & house looks Nov 28 same as on last visit. Just upstream t.colony from Buzzard Knoll (opposite the spring camp) 10:05 AM, found coyote scent post D X L 1 II 2 IIII I 3 IIII IIII 4 IIIIII I 5 III 6 III
