J.G.Hall 1952 21 June Sagehen Creek, Nevada Co., Calif. bark of larger diameter, so this will be something to watch for. Some evidence of old cuttings, too. Want to find some of the oldest cuttings on trees that bare still alive. May be able to get some idea of age of cut- ing. Took Kodachrome of a partially cut tree of about 11" in diam. just above the cut. A no. of completely peeled logs lying in the water. Lots of peeled & unpeeled logs cut by beaver & lying, better shel- ter in the pond. A good house adjoining shore and about 15' at water-level diameter & about 5' above water level. Seems to be built around a high stump which was perhaps cut dry beavers a year or more ago in the winter. Couldn't figure out where entrance was for sure as there was a channel-like excavation that went partially through the house just below water level but then emerged on other side.
