J.G. Hall 1953 134 Aug 22 Saghetten Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. upper trap and walked down to lower set. On way noticed that the big "sub-way" entrance was muddied up some. Lower trap set very mud- dy & since it was less likely to get as cold here, left trap set. Anal- most full moon was shining. Aug 23 Checked trap at 7 A.M. quite cold but no catch so I pulled the trap. Aug 25 Roadside colony 9:15 A.M. Windy, small cum- lus clouds coming over from southwest. Redtail heard screaming from lower end of L.Colony colony but not seen. Lower colony 9:30 A.M. Flushed 5 young quail from patch of Wy- etnia near NW corner. Flushed one by one. Call notes or assembly notes heard for 5 min. or so up the slope from where I flushed them. Marked new cuttings, again all in NW corner & vicinity. Marking chart: D X L 1 16 2 22 1 3 15 4 7 5 1 6 1 7 1 63 OLD sect New work 10 AM flushed about same no. of quail from willow thicket - They resettled into another part of this thicket. Unidentified Hummer zoomed in & out of same place on N shore in a aspen grove where I earlier noted & Calliope. Scelopous ran into roots of the old road about 11:10. A few frogs
