J. G. Hall 1953 133 Aug 21 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. during all the time we were hounding it. Set flash trap with c fish as bait at base of the tree and went to visit Upper colony & Mr. + Mrs. Storer. Arrived upper colony 11 AM and examined very briefly the N shore in vicinity of lodge. There has been some more cutting in NW area where there was so much last time but it appears to me that it has fallen off considerably. Didn't paint any of the trees and left about 11:30. Main camp 3 PM. Started hiking with Jack Lattin in brosera log and headed SW up the slope where we separated and I climbed up into saddle that separates Carpenter Ridge from the knoll opposite Spring camp. Followed the little stream that flows W, then N into the main Sagehen stream. Lots of sheep sign up there & I jumped two deer. Got back to camps 5:30 PM. Aug 22 Upper Rockslide colony 3 PM. Reset trap with the Thomases then drove down to the Roadside colony to show them the 2 lodges. 10:30 PM went down to Rockslide colony to check traps. Heard gnawing just north of the little island.
