J.G. Hall 1953 131 Aug 13 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. I estimated visually the % use of the seasonal growth of every twig under the line. This means every twig bearing seasonal shoots - I omitted the shoots themselves if they were all that fell under the tape. This may have to be modified. Table of Results: sta 0 25 50 75/100 Dead Total Twigs 1 23 1 70 94 2 8 4 1 3 51 67 3 18 3 6 10 5 38 80 Totals 49 3 10 11 9 159 241 % 20 1.2 4.2 4.6 3.7 66 Reset traps at same places and left at 5. Thunder, lightning & some showers during the afternoon. Returned at 7 and watched for beaver till 8:15. It rained a good deal & beaver weren't v. active however I saw one adult & a scar on tail + Aug 14 a bit. Checked traps at 6:45 & got one in the lower trap where I caught the last one. This was the same beaver'd seen last night swimming in the middle pool because he had the scar on his tail. Punched his web - "C" and painted his shoulders same as the other one but tail this way: (C)
