Aug 7 Sageren Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif.
good lookout tree 2'd climbed in the
afternoon but as there were 4 fish-
ermen in the area the whole time un-
til we left at 8:30 we didn't see any
action. Set hooks on traps to avoid
keeping any beaver in traps over-
night.
Aug 8 Main Camp 10:45 M R.C. Kinglet singing, first time in 2 wks.
Hiked down creek from just be-
low meadow below camp to the rock-slide colony to check up on the new
workings seen here June 6. The new dam
seen then, built around a deadfall seems
to have been abandoned but immediately
above it is a good dam built since then.
The original one has large leaks & seems
to have lost its pond as the level has
fallen to the point where part of the
dam which was very new & short low,
now is not holding back any water.
A little below this is another small
dam, not well maintained but about
2/3 of the way to the U. Rockslide is a
dam in excellent repair, with a deep
pond behind it & fresh droppings
just behind it. This is roughly in
the spot where Al Jones noticed
a little questionable damming early
in June but at that time was not
