J.G. Hall 1953 125 Aug 4 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. a different type in intestine and Aug 6 not as numerous. Spent morning sketch- ing in detail of part of U. R'slide colony. 9AM heard rustling in rocks under some aspen sprouts and saw a nice long-tailed weasel peer at me for a few seconds, then disappear into the rock crevices. He was about 8' away & showed no signs of fear. 12 noon, caught a rubber boa crawling into some rocks almost in the water at survey sta #16 which is at the N end of one of the dams. It was a beauty, measuring 28" in length. Took it back to camp tried to feed it baby frog but no luck. 6PM had good look at white-breasted nut- atches & hairy woodpeckers in lodge poles at main camp. Had good view of the hairies. There were two, one a ♀, the other had a pink spot on the top of the head, coming farther forward along the crown than did the bright red patch of the ♂. Maybe this one was an in- Aug 7 mature ♂. Rockslide colony 3:30 PM saw Zapus at water's edge by one of the ponds. Set traps by 5 PM. Returned 7:30PM to observe beaver in pond from a
