Lots of fir be- ing cut on SW shore, more absolutely 10 & relatively than anywhere else on the watershed. Also much fresh aspen cutting, some of it clear up to the RR but seems more haphazard & less intensive than that on NW shore. Again it is obvious beaver actively seek out fir in many cases. Noticed one case where beaver went 30 yds upslope to cut a 3" fir, ignoring about 25 asp of about the same size on the way up. An- other peculiarity struck me in re-
