J.G.Hall 1953 July 14 Sagetien Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. marking schedule for today: D x almost all this cutting was 1/2 4 on N shore W of Lodge where the 3 6 gnarled aspen growths occur 4 4 on a rocky slope. However a good deal of activity also is going on at least in dam maint. on SW shore. Saw large beaver swimming under water at 2:55 in a little water hole almost at my feet just down from burnt stump. He seemed to appear from a bank burrow- disappear into a downstream extension of the dam which is just below "double pine" dam. This extension looks as if it might be the beginning of a new house here. Both these dams much better maintained than last year. This ?house had a lot of fresh asp. logs in + on it. Much alder use (up to 2") near crossing tree. An excellent canal, running water near a bridge up from the original crossing tree. Even 1" alder roots had been cut through to help clear the land. Completed marking here July 14, 1952. Left 3:10 PM.
