July 11 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif.
Pool at the trestle (over main stream)
on way back. Found nest holes of
Williamson's sapsucker & tree swallow
in holes in a tall dead L'pole, 25' &
35' up respectively. The sapsuckers
had large young judging by the
cries coming from the hole. The
swallow didn't actually enter its hole.
Weather very hot but clear all after-
oon. Left about 1:30 PM. I didn't
take care to look for cuttings but
superficial impression was that
there had been little if any ad-ditional since my last visit.
Lower Rockslide Colony 8:30 PM.
While fishing I observed a beaver
floating in the N. channel; it
was getting pretty dark.
July 12 Halfway between Spring Camp &
Kilm Meadow 9 AM. Betty found
a nest of Pil. warbler on the ground
close to the stream in grassy
meadow. It was under the pro-tection of an overhanging willow
about 2" above the ground. There
seemed to be two pairs in the
immediate vicinity although
