July 10 Sagehen Creek 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif.
superficial done of this in lakeside colonies. At 3 PM I ran out of paint
so scouted downstream about 1/2 mile
but saw only very few new scratches
here and there, no more indic-
ations of downstream works than
was evident last year. 4:05 sur-
priised a chickaree in high grass at
streamside. Ran to a deadfall, watched
me, then took off churring. Found
junco's nest near here in same habitat.
4 whitish eggs = brownish-red spots
at one end : [circled]. Aspen seems to
be thin & would support an ex-
tension of the colony below the main
dam. Fox sparrow flew from ground
to low bush; "chink" note ~ to brown
towhee's. Like to get a photo of a
balanced stump in main pond.
