J.G.Hall 1953 88 April 11 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Upper near Scarbark has been trimmed on side considerably of branches next to water, branches on upper side still intact. Saw woodpecker, too small for a sapsucker Red head & throat, back black w/ 2 white stripes running up on either side of the midline. Some white near shoulder but not conspicuous as in sapsucker. Red-breasted nut- hatch. Townsend's Solitaire in Jeffrey. April 12 Left at 11:30. Upper rockslide colony R'slide 11:15 AM. Thin ice on pond, snow wet and about 2-3' deep. Lodge still has breathing hole but more of lodge is exposed. Scratched water level on rock at N corner of dam. Not much new cutting visible. Asp have "pussy- willow" now. Lower r'slide colony, 11:30. All snow gone from N-dam but 2-3' still on S. dam. Lodge covered by 2-3 feet. Marked water level w/ 2 cut sticks east of N. dam. June 6 1/4 mi. upstream from upper rockslide colony 2:15 PM. Sky mostly overcast; it's been raining off & on all A.M. Ground is wet, snow patches here and there up on ridge of south-
