J.G. Hall 1953 85 Feb 22 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif. main camp 7:45 AM, 0°F. Left camp for upper colony. Heard 2 coyotes from big meadow at 8:15. Arrived U.colony 8:35. Coyote tracks on N shore, squirrel & rabbit tracks numerous in snow. Marking Record: D X ∧ 1 - 2 HHH 3 IIII 4 HH I 5 II 6 II 7 8 9 10 11 12 15 Tracks & slide below dam show where beaver has crossed from one "spring hole" to another over a snow bridge 10' long. A round hole in ice just above dam showing where beaver emerged to go over dam. A dirty, track-covered slide leads over snow. This was one of their favorite summer crossings. Pond ice-covered but looks thin. At pond the old dead woodpecker-hole tree has fallen over farther, partly dislodging photo tree. Several coyote & many snowshoe, cottontail & squirrel tracks. Heard chickadee's churr. A few chipmunk tracks. Scarbarks show
