J.G.Hall 1952 79 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif. Sept 12 Weather bright and clear; snow soon gone almost completely. Arrived Upper Colony 2:15 PM and noticed immediately that much new cutting has been going on at the pond. New mud added to NE corner of dam & piled onto a log along which dam is built although it doesn't do any good there. Level of pond is up 2" at least. Much more mud plastered on N & W sides of home. No more work on brig 130/14 either near sta 23. The two trees 2 dislodged near sta. 25 last time (Aug. 30) have been almost completely sectioned & carried off, basal 8' of the 6" one & basal 10' of 4" one lying left in place. 2:40 two alarm chirps from an un-known bird in willows accompanied by low, rapid flight of goosahawk down over pond, about 90' above ground. Lots of new work on dam just above "graceful". All these ponds show definitely higher water levels than last time. 5:15 chick are seen pulling mouthfuls of shredded rotten bark from fallen aspen.
