J.G. Hall 1952 78 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Sept 6 moved off downstream to the corner, then back upstream again, past the resting spot and farther still and began to cut. 7:20 it came down to cove again, stopping on route to cut some more. Chewed in the cove. 7:23 it went downstream past its resting spot a few feet to cut but immediately turned & went back up to where he was earlier and cut till 7:28 when he swam under water to cove and fed. 7:40 went down, then up to place he'd first "tracked" upon my arrival, dove, surfaced and cut willows. 7:44 came down to corner where I lost him at 7:45. Weather clear calm but cold all evening; windy at times during day. I left 7:46. Surveyed & Betty L.L. Rolfsdike Sept 7 Heavy overcast & occasional overcast in after- Sept 10 noon. Very cold. Set camera out & Peromyscus Sept 11 bait. No picture. Snow 8" deep has draped the landscape but melted con- siderably during the day. Weather raw and skies overcast all day. Jun- cos + chickarees very active. Sept 12 En route to upper colony flushed a 1:30 PM covey of quail 100 yds E of trestle.
