Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. Aug 17 channel dam over to the left. I'm not sure just how many beaver are active right now as they never are all in sight at the same time. 7:47 one beaver in the N channel is now just floating, then goes up channel & dives (into burrow). A large beaver goes ashore near house and return with cuttings to shallows. The left takes these cuttings, diving into the house with them and is immediately followed by the big one. 7:48 one animal at channel dam reaches out of water to cut but then goes or up channel & disappears without cutting. 7:50 all quiet. 7:51 one surfaces at channel dam, goes across to island to dive & reappear at dam before crossing again & diving. 7:53 beaver swims under water to dam from spit & then up channel. Another appears from nowhere, floats up channel & dives. Then one comes back down channel to dam and crosses to the island and one appears at the channel path. Neither does anything for a few seconds, then the first one dives and the second one does also.
