Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif.
Aug 13 other swam to spit cove, cut a willow
which it took to shallows to eat. Meanwhile
still another dove near the spit and "bob-
bled" near the house. 8:19 one animal in
SE cove swims up to SW cove to join the
beaver already there but only notes a
willow cutting. 7:20 a bit emerges
from the house into this same cove, takes
cutting from the first beaver + dives
with it into house. The "robbed" beaver
goes + dives to house. 7:21 the remain-
ing one does same. 7:23 a med. size
animal swims from spit to little red
then to a S cove, up on land + back
to water. Meanwhile another beaver
somehow has gotten way back in the
willows even farther from shore
than my tree. It dragged a cutting
to shore + dove with it. 8:25 it is
getting to be too dark to see so I leave
just as the activity seems to be getting
really underway - as usual.
