J. G. Hall 1952 49 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif. Aug 5 after he left burrow & is about to surface by the doming of the water surface. After crossing to main pond, beaver swam up to the island, dove & surfaced in front of house, climbed out onto house where he gnawed on willow switch for 2 minutes. Next he swam across to "leaner" tree, cut more willow, bronght it back to S end of blasted dam, "lost" it here so climbed up on land at 7:24 to cut more willow which he took with him to water, swam downstream to cross- ing, crossed over into N fork, dove & willow into one the burrow he left earlier. Also at 7:27 a doe & twin spotted fawns app- eared on main S shore but stayed 5 minutes before leaving. 7:30 one at S end blasted dam, larger than one just observed. 7:39 beaver stirring up bottom at twin tree burrow, finally surfacing & crosses to main pond at 7:40. Swam upstream, turned in at the channel N of island, turned around
