J.G.Hall 1952 45 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi.NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co.,Calif. Aug 2 of ripples but view blocked. There is no one place where a person can see more than 2/3 of any of the colonies I've seen so far. 8:35 beaver appeared opposite small dam, swam upstream & dove just below spit. Left at 8:36, clear Aug 34 calm. 7:05 PM same colony. Fisherman left as I arrived. 7:20 beaver in cove below little dam; swam & floated then fed (?). Activity ended 7:25. 7:30 more activity in the N fork, one coming over to main pond, diving, then floating idly before swimming up to beyond spit underwater & entered house presumably. Always seem to see beavers first in cove at vicinity of N fork cove where they were the first night. May have burrow just below this spot. 7:38 one reap- peared, swam down, then up about 1/2 way up, another came over from fork & swam upstream, both dove under deadfall. A third, noticed squatting way down on fork. This makes 3 med size (to adults seen at one time.
