J.G.Hall 1952 44 Sagehen Creek, 3 mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co, Calif. Aug 2 and held next to its breast but I couldn't tell whether it carried mud or not. Floated at cove for several seconds, then dove and swam up to upper cove where it fed for so long previously but this time left after nosing about for a second. Then it swam across and around island to a trampled path going up onto the N shore. Made a no. of false starts onto the land, but re-entered the water. swam rest of the way around is- land & came around to its feed- ing spot on 3 side of island where it squatted & fed on willows till 8:02. Then dove + did something on bottom for several seconds, surfaced, swam over to dead willow clump, got stick & swam ~ it way downstream & must have put it in lower dam. It then swam up to, entered + left the cove nearest me, then across + crawled over to tri's cove where they were the first night (8:03). Saw ripples from time to time but no beavers in this lower N fork. 8:26 beaver went upstream, lots
