J.G.Hall 1952 38 July 23 Sagehen Creek, 3mi. NW Hobart Mills, Nevada Co., Calif. over dam again in same place. 8:50 reappeared willow cutting 5' long and took it into house or forced it into subsurface wall of house. 9 PM one appeared in pond above house, swam to shore on surface, then underwater. Lost sight of him. Left tree at 9. At 9:05 as I got to shore I saw a yeling swim- ming 20' away, shone light in his face, at which he whacked & dove. Few secs. later an adult swam towards me so I shone light in his eyes. He was indecisive, first swim- ing towards me, then finally away w/o alarm. Got to within 10' of me once. Wyethia knob just S. of upper colony 7 AM. Took photo of pond. Scared quail; lots calling. Many fox sparrow & chipmunks about, 349 tan- agers lit in tall A. condor. And warbler in top of a giant w. fir. Many robins, some chick- adess & a pewee. Up to Hoffmans for bfast. White-breasted nuthatches at his barn-to. Back at upper colony, noticed red-tail soar- ing N. of the pond. Took photo of lodged aspen which shows consider-
