"Journal" Hafner, M.S. 1976 Jan. 30 (cont) 9 mi. E, 5 mi. N Dos Palos, Merced Co., California The Coyote was very fresh -- I took measurements, skull and reproductive data. A bit further along the road we found another dead coyote. (This was too old to collect.). 1300 Arrived Fresno, checked into "Motel 6" ($2.50) and I met with Howard Leach at the Fresno Hilton. We decided not to go to the D.W.P. but instead he would have a map to current land-use for me to pick up tomorrow (Sat.) morning. We met with Donna Knapp who was working for the Fish and Game and would take the airplane flight with us 20 February to survey the study area from the air. Darcy, Emily and I had an enjoyable evening. Jan. 31 Fresno, Fresno Co., California. 0900 met again with Howard Leach. 1100 left. Fresno drove via Los Barrios and Pacheco Pass to San Jose. (I was very impressed with the size of the reservoir near Pacheco Pass.) We attended a wedding reception for Darcy's cousin, Diane. Then drove home via Pleasant Hill. The weather has been unseasonably warm and clear. 2000 arrived home in Richmond.
