It was taken in the dense tropical forest adjacent to a clearing where banana trees had been planted. We drove on to the Santa Rosa locality. Upon checking traps, we found that we each had a catch. 2 Macrogeomys heterodus A short time later, a local brought us another animal. 1 Macrogeomys heterodus. We waited until about noon, then drove back toward San Jose. We reset the 42 traps in the same dense tropical forest that had yielded the Heteromys last night. We then drove into San Jose where we checked into the Hotel Presidente ($17.50 us./night). We kaygotyped that evening and then went out to eat. We'll prepare the skins tomorrow.
