We released the single individual as we (cont)
had captured several more last night. We
drove back through Cartago to the
gopher locality. No activity. I talked with
a local camperino who told me that there
were numerous "Taltuzas" near Santa Rosa
(marked Santa Rita on at least one of our maps).
We were very discouraged with the
lack of activity at this site, so we pulled
traps and headed for Santa Rosa.

We took the turnoff to the town of Cot, then
drove east out of town - a fairly nice paved
road. We continued on eastwardly for several
miles -- I'll get the exact mileage later -- then
drove through the small pueblo of Santa Rosa
and continued north for about 1 km. We stopped
