Journal Hafer, M.S. 1978 7 mi. S, 4 mi. E Willard, Torrance Co., New Mexico. 11 June [cont] about 1 hour and re-checked traps: Thomomys bottae actuosus We were rather disappointed - this hole was one of the smaller holes - we decided to look for another locality closer to the Mesa (we left the sets out) Mesa - we drove south and then west on a dirt road toward the mesa. - We soon found that we couldn't get too close to the mesa so we returned to the trap site, and took a side road toward the NE end of the mesa. We were able to get near the edge of the mesa this time, but we only noted occasional gopher signs - all Thomomys. 1400 we pulled traps - no more captures - and we drove via Hwy's 60, 6 and 25 to Albuquerque.
