Journal Hedner, M.S. 1978 Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico 29 March (cont.) helping the Mexican government as a farm advisor - especially control of "Tuzos" = Gophers!. We talked at length of his work and the people he remembered from his days at MVZ. He especially remembered Carl Koford - whom he has worked with fairly recently. We told him which genera of gophers were in the area (he thought they were Geomy!), and told him of our special interest in Zygogeomys. He said that he would be visiting the Museum soon and would prepare a flat-skin of a Zygogeomys should he catch one in the area - (I haven't much hope, as he poisons the animals and rarely sees what type he is poisoning). 1100 we drove out to the locality s of Patzcuaro where John and I had trapped gophers (Pappogeomys and Thomomys) last summer. We measured mound height, diameter and diameter of the hole for both genera. 1230 returned to the motel, showered and checked out. Stopped at the souvenir shop next door to the motel (Vicki and Rafael's) and bought some souvenirs. 1300 after getting fuel, we drove via Morelia
