Journal Hahner, M.S. 1978 Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico, 28 March is small and relictual and confined to some obscure peak in the area of the pass between Patzcuaro and Tacambaro. Either way, we decided to hold-off on Zygogeomys for now and hold-up in a motel to karyotype the 2 Orthogeomys and 2 Lionmys specimens. 1130 we bought bread and had sardine sandwiches for lunch after checking into the San Felipe motel on the main road just north of town (240 pesos = $12.50 us). (We got room 14, just as last summer). 1400 after showering we karyotyped the 4 specimens. 1700 went into town and had a very nice dinner (Pescado blanco!). 2200 retired. Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico 29 March 0700 awoke and drove into town for breakfast. Had a very nice meal. We met an American named Howard Twining who graduated from U.C.B. Museum of Vertebrate Zoology in ca. 1939 after receiving a Master's degree under Joseph Grinnell!!! He now lives in Ukiah, California on a cattle ranch (with some grapes) and spends much of his time
