Journal Hofner H.S. 1978 En Route, Arteaga to Playa Azul, Mich. Mexico. 25 March (cont.) drove several miles into Guerrero without seeing signs of gophers. Much of the land was planted in coconut palms, bananas, and cane but nowhere in these plantations were there gophers. We turned around and returned through La Mira to Playa Azul. This is a vacation spot for much of central Mexico. A very dirty place in a very beautiful setting. Littered with beer cans, paper, and junk. We checked into a motel (300 peso = 15 $/us) about 1:00 and showered. After a nap we walked around town and had a few beers. We made arrangements to call home (but later, no lines were available for international calls). We had a nice dinner before going to the beach (just as the sunset) to sit under a thatched umbrella and look at the ocean breakers. 21:00 returned to the motel and retired. Very warm night, full moon. Hope I can call home tomorrow. Playa Azul, Michoacan, Mexico, sea level. 26 March 0645 arose to a bright, warm morning. Today is Easter Sunday. We dressed and
