Journal Hafner, H.S. 1978 En Route Mexico City to Morelia, Michoacán, Mex. 21 March 1200-1300. After lengthy drive arrive we arrive in Morelia 1630. Ate dinner in the town square (no beer, so this is a holiday), then walked around for awhile looking at local crafts. I bought Emily and Julie each a nice blouse in a local shop. For a small bribe, I managed to buy some cold beer. We departed Morelia via Hwy 15 west at 1800. Camped about 500 meters off the Hwy on the turnoff to Capula (about 12 km. on Hwy 15 SW of Morelia). Very rocky, thornscrub habitat - we set out 50 Sherman traps here. 2000 went to bed - cool evening, light breeze from SW.; light overcast - full moon. 12 km. SW Morelia, Michoacán, México. 22 March 0630 arose. Cool, breezy morning. Checked traps: 2 Peromyscus sp. 2 Baiomyus sp. (released the animals) 0700 continued west on Hwy 15 and drove via Quiroga and Tacapu to Zamora. Picked-up some fresh water west of Tacapu.
