Journal Hafner, M.S. 1977 En Route Cuidad Victoria, Tam, Mexico to Albuquerque, New Mexico. 16 August By this time our insurance in Mexico had (cont') expired so we headed straight across the border (after exchanging money). We had no trouble at the border-crossing - only the American people cared to see our permits. 1400-we ate at a "MacDonalds"- finally a clean place to eat! We drove all night - through San Antonio and Abilene, Texas to Lubbock. (We pulled the "snail hunt" in Judd at 0400 17 August). 17 August While John picked up some personal affects from a friend in Lubbock, I attempted to trap some Geomys just east of town. I caught one animal by the foreleg, but it managed to pull loose. 1200-pulled all traps without success and headed for Albuquerque, New Mexico. After a nice 1 day stay with Diane (Dave was in the field), we headed home. We arrived early in the morning 19 August after a long and successful trip.
