Journal Hornor, ms. 1977 Orizaba, Puebla, México. 13 August 0600 awoke and immediately karyotyped the Heteromys specimen and one Baiomys specimen. Prepared skins of all specimens and @ 1000 packed-up and checked-out of the motel. Drove west on the "free" road toward Puebla and after about 20 miles realized that the road went sw in a very round-about way toward Puebla--we decided to return to Orizaba and take the toll road to Puebla. The road was narrow and windy as we climbed onto the Mexican Plateau. We turned-off the toll toll road at the toll station near the small town of Esperanza. After much searching for a road to the small (very small) town of Boca del Monte we finally found an old dirt road paralleling the rail road tracks: N Orizaba volcan To Puebla Toll gate railroad la Puente(?)
