10 August
0600 awoke and checked traps. No captures. We set out 7 Cinch traps (= large gopher traps) in place of slacAbres. It rained on-and-off all day. 1000 walked to La Cumbre for an inexpensive breakfast. Fog still fairly dense.
1200 - Several traps have been set-off. (including Cinch traps!) Other holes are being plugged... apparently these gophers are pushing large amounts of dirt ahead of them.
1800 Still no luck. Checking and re-checking traps in the occasionally pouring rain. We are both quite wet and muddy. I made some coffee in the later afternoon and we took short naps in the van while it rained.
2100 walked to La Cumbre for dinner. Dense, wet fog. Very depressing day. Much work, no Orthogeomys. Julia 2 months old today.
