Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico
8 August (unit)
We drove back to the motel and karyotyped
the lions plus the Thomions from Volcan
Popocatepetl.
1445 departed the motel and attempted to
locate "Cerro San Felipe" a locality for
Orthogeomys. We followed the road past the
small Pueblo of San Felipe del agua a few
miles east of Oaxaca, but it ended before
we were at a sufficient elevation. We
drove back toward Oaxaca, stopping outside
of town to finish preparing specimens.
1800 stopped in town for a few beers then drove up
toward Monte Alban to re-set sherman traps for
the night. Set out 50 traps each side of the
road (=100 traps) very near to where we trapped
last evening.
