Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico
4 August (cont)
was shining brightly by the early afternoon
so we set the skins atop the van to dry.
1430 packed-up and drove into Mexico City
proper. We first drove to the Museo Museo
de Historia Natur and briefly walked
through - the exhibits were nice, but not
extraordinary. The Scientific collection is
apparently stored at the University. We
later drove over to the Museo
Nacional de Antropologia and spend a few
hours looking at the huge array of exhibits.
We saw many, many of the large stone
Aztec carvings including the "Aztec Calendar".
We also were able to see beautiful pottery
work and numerous figurines of gold, jade,
obsidian, serpentine, etc.
We later drove to the center of town
and had a very excellent meal at a
nice, high-class restaurant - about (200 pesos =
$9.00 us). We drove, then, over to the Hotel
Ensenada and called home. Everything is
fine with Darcey, Emily and Julia. We had
cup of coffee and then drove out of
town toward Puebla. (via Hwy 190). There
was light rain as we entered the toll
road from Mexico City toward Puebla.
