Pappogeomys) were fairly dense in the bare
field just to the W of the main road. There
was also considerable activity in an adjacent
field with a high (2 ft.) growth of Mustard.

We trapped all morning and until about 1430
Hours. At this time we had a total of 19
Thomomys bott umbrinus from this locality,
3 of which were alive. The day was beautiful,
light breeze, cool with warm sunshine.
In digging up gopher burrows in the
soft, dark, friable soil, I uncovered the
nest of one individual. The nest was of
finely shredded grasses (brown) and about
180-200 mm in diameter. It was located
