Journal Hafner, M.S. 1977 10 km. S., 16 km. W Toluca , 3000 m., Mexico, Mexico. 3 August. currently "resting". Thomomys (and a few (count) Pappogeomys) were fairly dense in the bare field just to the W of the main road. There was also considerable activity in an adjacent field with a high (2 ft.) growth of Mustard. Map to this and preceding locality: To Zitacuarro N 10 km. Hwy 15 Toluca Mextepac -> to Mexico city hwy 130 Trapsite 3 August 1977 Raices hwy 3 Trap site 2 August 1977 Nevado de Toluca We trapped all morning and until about 1430 Hours. At this time we had a total of 19 Thomomys bott umbrinus from this locality, 3 of which were alive. The day was beautiful, light breeze, cool with warm sunshine. In digging up gopher burrows in the soft, dark, friable soil, I uncovered the nest of one individual. The nest was of finely shredded grasses (brown) and about 180-200 mm in diameter. It was located
