Journal Hafner, HS. 1977 6 km. N, 2 km. W Tancítaro, 2000 m., Michoacán, México. 1 August (t cont) tail is long and totally naked; the forefeet are unusually large. 1130 we pulled all traps after an unsuccessful morning. Departed locality and barely managed, with the help of some "locals", to get to the town of Apo; The hill was steep and muddy entering town. We drove N via Los Reyes (where we re-fueled) to the town of Zamora. We then drove SE via Hwy 15 through beautiful forested country, past the large lago Pátzcuaro, to Morelia. It rained the last hour of the trip. After much searching and driving in the town of Morelia we found a place to have our laundry washed. We checked into an inexpensive motel (125 Pesos = $5.50 us) on the NE side of town and proceeded to process and karyotype the 3 Zygogeomys specimens and the 2 Pappogeomys specimens (1 from Nuevo San Juan, 30 July, and 1 from Nahuatzen, 31 July). 2130 had a very nice dinner and retired.
