city with many castle-like structures of stone.
Several beautiful motels/hotels are situated
on the steep mountain-side overlooking the
city. We drove into the "centro" area looking
for a moderately priced motel in which to
do our karyotyping. We promptly got
lost and ended up in an underground
road system (built of large pieces of stone
with cobblestone streets) which seemed to
completely underlie the city. We eventually
found our way out of the underground system
and returned up the mountainside (as we
had entered town) on the road toward
Dolores Hidalgo.
1800 checked into a nice motel on the hillside,
karyotyped and prepared specimens, had a
nice dinner and retired 2200.

0600 awoke and spent the morn morning
preparing specimens.
1200 departed Guanajuato and drove NE on
Hwy 110 to the small town of Santa Rosa.
