Journal Harner, M.S. 1977 1 km. N Sigueros, 50 m., Sinaloa, Mexico. 19 July 0515 awoke and checked traps. Nothing in gopher traps (some activity though). Trapping Results: 15 Perognathus (pernix) success: 18/120 3 Perognathus (large animals) 18 We released two of the juvenile pocket mice. The 3 larger mice were captured in the line of traps (20) that JCH set out in the "chaparral" hillside adjacent to a plowed field (see map). The other 100 traps were in grassy areas punctuated with occasional trees. All morning we continued attempting to get a T.u. atrovarius. The sun was extremely intense and by about noon we were ready for a swim in the muddy Rio Presidio. We first crossed the river (waist deep) and extra explored the ruins on the far side. The house had served as a pump station for water supplied to Elazation over 20 years ago. There was no roof on the building and the earthen floor was about 30 feet below ground level. We found an old cave and noted bats flying within (only 6-10 bats). We then re-crossed the river, checked our gopher sets and at 1300, we
