Journal Haflner, M.S. 1477 En Route: Cabo San Lucas to La Paz, Baja California Sur, México. 16 July (cont) We stopped at the gopher locality of 2 days ago and began to set out live gopher traps. 6 km. N, 10 km E, Santiago, 60 mi., Baja California Sur, México. Results: 2 Thomomys bottae (live) We now had the animals we needed for karyotyping. 1100 Extremely hot already - a very light cloud cover protects us from absolutely broiling. 1245 arrived La Paz. Picked-up fuel, groceries and headed toward a motel. Found a very nice one on the western edge of town "Las Calabasas" (or something like that). We checked-in, karyotyped and showered. Later, we went into town and had a so-so meal at a fancy restaurant on the main water-front drag. 2200 retired early. Heavy cloud cover. La Paz, Baja California Sur, México 17 July 0600 arose and put-up specimens. 0930 checked-out of the motel and drove to meet our travel agent who would take us to the ferry. 1030 arrived Richilingue (N of La Paz) where the ferry-docks are located.
