Journal Haber, H.S. 1977 16 km S, 5 km W Punta Prieta, Baja California, Mexico 110m. 7 July (cont) noted signs of gophers, so we began to set-out MacAbee traps. The soil was extremely powdery and the sun quite hot, making a very uncomfortable time. The gophers, as it turned out we very sparse. John finally captured (both in Mac Abees): 1 Thomomys bottae 1 Dipodomys peninsularis 1800 We finally decided to move to a better locality (for Gophers) tomorrow. We began to set out sherman traps according to the following map: N Ca. 1mi. 7 to Punta Prieta Dirt roads thwy 1 50 sheremans 50 sheremans Sandy Wash 50 Sherman's Rancho camp A total of 150 traps - line (1) was in the sandy Mesquite wash; line (2) was in the rocks of a small hill (around which the road skirts) and line (3) was in the desert flats.
