We crashed about 2100 and slept rather poorly through a quite cool and damp night. We have a total of 9 gophers so far.

0515 arose and checked traps:
60 Dipodomys agilis
37 Dipodomys merriami
success: 6 Peromyscus maniculatus

We released all but a sample of each kangaroo rat species. We elected to leave the traps out for the morning (while we trapped for gophers) in order to capture some ground squirrels.
0830 – already quite warm. We prepared this mornings specimens . 0900 as I was walking the trap lines (Sherman traps) I discovered that the last 20-30 traps of one line of 50 were missing. We heard voices and saw some young children leading a herd of
