Journal Hafner, U.S. 1976 26 August (cont.) Vicinity W of Deming, Luna Co., New Mexico. Trapping results. Drove into town, where we put-up the Dipodomys (took blood, tissue, reprod. tracts, sperm) then, while pinning out the new specimens, we noted maggots on the drying specimens. Thankfully not too much damage was done. We drove back to camp in the Red Mtn. area where we set the skins out in the sun to dry. 1700 plinked around with the gun for awhile. Wrote-up field notes and relaxed. This whole area seems to harbor many Sylvilagus and lepus. We noted many last evening and expect the same tonight. 1830 - drove to re-set traps in same localities as last night.
