Mod. dense veg.; fairly dense H-K1; Very few F; Very few G, L and I Dense stand of C 4 M away. Burrow depth = 70 mm. #8 - level ground, dense veg. - mostly grass (Plant N) Fairly dense Equisetum throughout area. Juniperus 3M from hole 2 species: J. monosperma, J. deppeana; Plant F very few; Very few plant O. Burrow depth = 150 m -. Fairly dense P. #9 - Salix grove (to 8 M) 5 M away. Level ground. Dense (very) veg., mostly grasses Q. Very few H; Very Few N. Very few K; Very few C and L and E. Burrow depth 30: General: Systems clumped. 5-6 animals within area of = 1000 sq. M. Equal size areas without animals - (too dry or too wet). Within clumps, animals are approximately 10 M apart with individual sq systems covering approx. 70-100 M2. General habitat disturbance. Separated from Pinyon-Juniper hillsides to the N by Rio Ruidoso and separated from Pinus assoc. to the S and W by development and thry. 1300 Drove via Hwy 37 to Nogal Canyon. Took photos of Canyon from vantage point on Hwy 37. Threatening to rain - clouds from The SE. Pleasant temperature, slight breeze.
