Journal Hafner, M.S. 1976 Capitan Mtus., Lincoln Co., New Mexico. 17 August (cont) By 1800 we had captured 12 Thomonys so we left all but 6 traps and drove into Capitan for dinner. The sky was still quite overcast - no rain since ~1600. Called Darcy from Capitan - all's well. 1930 Departed Capitan via Hwy 48 North to the Capitan Pass turnoff. Drove Southeast to the locality where we had previously attempted to trap ruidosae. Set out 7 traps in 2 sets: Exact locality = 6.5 mi. N, 6.7 mi. E Capitan, 6900 ft. 2300 Still somewhat overcast - moderate wind - no moon yet. Thus far we have kangotypically identified animals as follows: Carrizozo Capitan Mtus. Sierra Blanca Lincoln Co. Otero Co. Mescalero Hwy 48 Capitan Situes. N. Nogal Canyon Lincoln Hwy 37 Hwy 214 Hwy 380 Ruidoso Hondo. Hwy 70 = T.b. ruidosae = T.b. aethuosus (See 10, 13, 15, 17 August for exact localities.)
