Nogal Lake, Lincoln Co., 6900 ft, New Mexico,
10 August (cont)
The rain fell continuously as I set traps. A moderate breeze blew from the SE. I then drove to Hwy 37 and turned NW toward Nogal. Just before entering Nogal, I turned S on Nogal Canyon Road and drove to a point 5.7 mi. by road from Hwy 37. (see exact locality below). I set out 6 sets (= 10 traps) in a small meadow to the east of the dirt road between the small creek and the road.
Again, the rain fell continuously as I worked.

1800 When I finished setting the southern-most traps, I checked the others and captured 1 gopher in the northernmost set. I returned to camp near Nogal Lake and John and I ate dinner. (Hot-dogs, beers).
We later returned to the Nogal Canyon localities, but caught nothing. Strong rains.
We also checked the Nogal lake sets -- no captures.
