E Capitan, 6300 ft., Lincoln Co. 1200 checked out of motel and, after getting supplies, drove west to the turn-off to Nogal Lake. We were debating as to whether we should go to Albuquerque to get a better scope or not. We decided to set traps near Nogal Lake and continue examining slides. (We caught 1 gopher at the set just east of Capitan, [7] above). We pulled all other traps before heading for Nogal Lake. 1400 John continued examining slides to determine the identity of the animals Kaustyped yesterday.
